Women deliver enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses, on farms, as entrepreneurs or employees, or by doing unpaid care work at home. But they remain disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination and exploitation.
Gender discrimination means women often end up in insecure, low-wage jobs, and constitute an insignificant minority of those in senior positions. In a globalising world gender equality andĀ empowermentĀ ofĀ womenĀ areĀ vital tools toĀ achieveĀ the sustainableĀ developmentĀ therefore it isĀ extremelyĀ important toĀ bringĀ womenĀ intoĀ mainstreamĀ so that you canĀ playĀ due role in theĀ developmentĀ of theĀ country.
